Wi-Fi Compatibility Mode

This article describes a feature introduced with the Larkspur Update. More information on updating Origin can be found here.

This mode is only available on Origin Gen 2 (Gen 1 only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi). Use this article if you're unsure of what version of Origin you have.

Wi-Fi Compatibility Mode is intended to assist with connecting Origin to Wi-Fi networks that may be having issues with a consistent connection.

When to use Wi-Fi Compatibility Mode

Wi-Fi Compatibility Mode prioritizes the 2.4 GHz band over the 5 GHz band. While the 5 GHz band is faster, the 2.4 GHz band has a longer range and tends to be more stable, especially for devices like the Shaper Origin that prioritize stability over speed.

How to Use It

To enable Wi-Fi Compatibility Mode, first make sure your Origin is updated to the most recent software. Once updated, tap Settings , then Info. In the Info Menu you can toggle Wi-Fi Compatibility Mode on or off.

Note: Origin will reboot after you toggle this setting.

We only advise turning on Wi-Fi Compatibility Mode on your Gen 2 Origin if you are experiencing Wi-Fi connectivity problems. If you're still having trouble connecting to Wi-Fi please contact Shaper Support and we'll be happy to help!
