If you received an error message directing you to this page, your tool’s movement may be hampered by a buildup of sawdust. You can clear this out by following these steps:
Important: Before beginning the process below, please insure that your tool's entire base plate is on a single, uniform surface when you are trying to conduct your Z-touch. Make sure that a cutter is installed, the collet is tight, and the hex screw on the side of the spindle is tight. If you've assured yourself of all the above, then continue with the steps below
- Unplug your tool.
- Unplug and remove the spindle.
- Remove the chip tray at the back of your tool and empty it. Leave it aside for the moment.
- Gently move the carriage down to its lowest limit.
- With a compressed air can and a straw attachment, blow air into the gap that is opened by moving the carriage down.
Note: Be careful not to blow compressed air at the blue/green seals (located on the left of the carriage behind where the spindle clamps), or directly onto the brown flex cable that connects the Z-Axis to rest of the machine (behind and to the left of the Z-Axis column, near the top)
Blow air into the gap on the side of the carriage that is exposed by moving the spindle to its lowest point.
Vacuum up all visible sawdust and chips, replace the chip tray, and replace the spindle.
