Tips and Tricks
Units
The calculator will always default to the units that you’ve selected in the Settings Menu. But the calculator will allow you to be flexible with your components.
To change the units of a dimension, tap the “in|mm” button under the Entry Bar before or after you’ve typed it in.
You can also use equations with mixed units by toggling the “in|mm” as you enter each dimension.
Origin will automatically convert the result of your equation into your global unit setting when you press “=” or “Done”. The result will always be in your default units.
Presets
Some menus will have presets to the left of the calculator for quick selection of common dimensions. When you select a preset dimension, Origin will immediately apply the new setting and jump back to the workspace.
As a time saver, you can also increment by presets. To do so, just tap a preset after any operator and the calculator will immediately insert the preset value into your equation and apply the result. If using a preset in an equation, it should always be the last value entered (it will trigger the equation to be solved and jump back to the workspace)
