ShaperTape Separation

In rare cases, you may find that your ShaperTape separates as you pull it off the roll.

If this occurs on a roll you are using, we suggest you follow the 'toilet paper protocol.

Just as you make a clean break in a roll of toilet paper when the plies separate from one another, do the same with your ShaperTape.

Once you start pulling the tape from the roll again, do so smoothly and gently. No need to be too precious about this process—just try to avoid any sudden tugs on the tape.

Internally, we've also found that colder ShaperTape can be more likely to separate. ShaperTape performs well in a variety of conditions, but performs best between temperatures of 59 and 77 degrees F (15-25 C) and humidity levels between 30% and 50%. If you find yourself operating Origin in colder temperatures, we recommend bringing the tape roll up in temperature (even putting in a pocket for a while helps!) before attempting to unroll and apply ShaperTape.

This should help to greatly reduce instances of separation between the tape layers. Additionally, prolonged UV light exposure can adversely affect tape and adhesion performance. For this reason, we recommend keeping your ShaperTape out of direct sunlight until use.
