The 16mm Clearing Router Bit allows you to perform deeper, wider passes for clearing material. The mark on the shaft shows exactly where it needs to be clamped in the collet to reach the full depth – a little trick to save time during the tool change. Three sharp cutting edges offer several advantages in a wide range of materials, from foam to hardwood.
Notes
- Spindle Speed is key with this bit, if it’s too fast, the bit will have a shorter service life. See table below for more information.
- Cleaning it from time to time will increase the service life of this bit considerably.
- As with many others, chipboard, MDF and other highly abrasive materials may reduce the lifespan of this bit.
- The red cross × in the table below indicate that a different router bit may be more suitable to prolong the life of the bit.
Cutting Recommendations for 16mm Bit
-
The cutting pressure is reduced, which on one hand relieves the load on the spindle, or on the other hand allows greater feed rates.
-
As a result, the bit is very well-balanced, which is reflected in a smooth running. This in turn increases the edge quality and the overall user experience.
-
The service life of the tool is improved as the workload is distributed over more cutting edges.
-
Despite the high feed rates, this bit does not require a high spindle speed. This means, on the one hand, that the spindle has more power to maintain the speed and on the other hand, the friction and therefore the development of heat remains lower.
Due to the specs, the bit is perfect to do rough pocketing with high feed rates as well as finish passes with high edge quality.
