Updating Your Origin via USB drive
This article explains how to update your Origin via USB. To learn how to update your tool via WiFi, see here.
We release regular software updates that expand Origin's features and improve tool performance. These are designed to be OTA (over the air) updates.
When connected to WiFi, Origin notifies the user when a new update is available and makes it easy and painless to ensure that your tool is always on the latest and best software.
Using a USB stick that is FAT32 formatted and is at least 128 MB capacity, Go to the Release Page and download the .shup file for the latest software release. Be sure to download the appropriate file for your generation of tool--to identify your tool, use this article. Note: do not rename this file, as Origin will not recognize a renamed file.

Copy the file to your USB stick and insert this stick into Origin's USB drive. Once Origin detects an available encrypted update on the USB stick, you will see a notification badge on the Settings icon:
-
Tap Settings > Info
-
Select the release version you would like to install and tap install. Origin will install the software and automatically reboot. Once the tool has rebooted, the screen will show an onboarding tutorial for your new software.
If your Origin is already running the current software, you will be notified that there is no update currently available on your USB stick.
