During cutting, Origin is able to correct for a user’s slight departure from a cut path by moving the spindle in the (x,y) plane while cutting.
This corrective range is represented visually by the circle, or reticule, found in the middle of the screen during cutting. When Origin is unable to reliably correct for user motion of the tool, it will retract the cutter to avoid damaging the workpiece.
There are two situations in which this is likely to happen:
- User moves the cutter too quickly along the cut path
- User moves the cutter too far away from the cut path
When you see this error, simply return the reticule to the cut path and begin cutting again. If you see this message often, make sure you’re moving your Origin smoothly, keeping as close to the cut path as you can. Check out our Getting Great Cuts article to help prevent recurrence of this problem
