Pocketing Procedure
Pocketing Procedure on Origin is pretty straightforward. Follow these simple steps:
1. Select the area you want to pocket out. Ensure that it is a closed path as Origin will only allow pocketing on closed paths.
2. Encode your design element as a Pocket. You can do this in your design software or you can do so on-tool. Note that the pocket will now show up on tool as a gray hashed area.
3. Unlike other cut types, pocketing allowed you to move the Origin freely to remove material from your pocket. Note that Origin automatically creates an offset equal to one-quarter of the cutter's diameter. This allows you to move freely and quickly while pocketing, protecting your edges from any unintentional damage.
4. Change your cut type to 'Inside' and cut a final pass at the same depth as your pocket to create a clean, uniform edge.
